Project Description
The Brief
When it comes to high end modern home design, lots of buyers place a high value on light, space and versatility. With The Fleetwood, Summit homes wanted a gorgeous loft style display home that would appeal to this market by providing a multi-purpose, light-filled upstairs area.
One of the very first loft style display homes to utilize steel construction, we were engaged to engineer the prefabricated steel frame for the upper level.
The Challenge
As it was one of the first loft style display homes in Perth to deploy prefabricated steel construction, our team had to work closely with their design and fabrication team to ensure that all of the design and details were 100% correct throughout the entire process.
We also had to the challenge of making sure that all of trussing and floor joints were strong and stable while also allowing space for air conditioning ducts and plumbing. This involved designing a 7m long lightweight box beam to support the floor system.
The Result
Give that this was the first loft style display home in WA to deploy a technically demanding prefabricated steel frame, we’re exceptionally happy with how the project turned out. Not only was the client extremely satisfied, The Fleetwood also went on to collect the following accolades:
- WINNER 2017 MBA Best Display Home $240,000 – $260,000
- FINALIST 2017 HIA Display Home $230,001 – $250,000, Metro
